Cheap Health Insurance in Ohio: Is There Such a Thing?

Whether you’re looking for a free health insurance quote for Ohio or Kentucky (or anywhere else for that matter), many health insurance companies will provide you with a free quote when you contact them. Yes, it is time-consuming to contact several companies, but it may be worth it in the end. You will end up getting appropriate coverage for your needs and save a few dollars along the way.

What is the cost of health insurance in Ohio? What is the average price of life insurance? These are two important questions. Unfortunately, the answers to these questions do not mean much as no two people are alike. That being said, here are some numbers from the Ohio State Retirement System Health Care Program for 2007:

  • The average monthly cost of retiree health insurance coverage for retired Ohio teachers and professors without Medicare or younger than 65 years old was $553. This amount was split between the individual cost ($125) and the STRS Ohio cost ($428).
  • For retired Ohio teachers and professors with Medicare Parts A and B and older than 65 years old, the average monthly cost was $225. This amount was split between the individual cost ($55) and the STRS Ohio cost ($170).

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio published the results of a study on health spending and insurance coverage in Ohio in May 2007. One of the major findings of this report is that in 2006, Ohio residents spent $62.2 billion on non-institutional healthcare. Do you know how much is being spent every day on health care in America? The same report answers this question: $5.3 billion per day!

Here are some other numbers for you to look at but keep in mind that quotes may change without notice and everybody’s condition and medical background is different. Also, some of these rates are only valid for groups. These Medicare supplement insurance premiums were published in 2008 as provided by the Ohio Department of Insurance. Feel free to visit their website for more information.
